Forsyth County Animal Control has a variety of wonderful companion animals waiting to share a lifetime of love with you and your family. Adopting a pet is a big step in your life and in the pet's life as well. You will be choosing a companion with whom you can expect to spend the next decade or more. Our adoption procedures are designed to help place the right animal in just the right home.
The selection of pets available for adoption changes on a daily basis, and this website listing is updated every night. If you see an animal you are interested in adopting, please print the Detail Report or write down the Animal ID number and come to the Shelter as soon as possible! For fees and other information, please read our Adoption Procedures.
Many of the animals in the adoption program came to the shelter as strays, meaning we don't know their behavioral background or breed information. Each animal in adoption has been evaluated for the positive behavior traits we need to see in adoptable pets before they are placed in adoption. However, the breed/breeds listed for the dogs are often educated guesses. Some of them, patricularly if they are purebred, are easy to identify; others are not. Puppies are the hardest to identify if we don't know their background, because they change so much in their first year. We can make no guarantees about size of breed in these cases.
