Learn Computer Skills Through Computer Training Bridge

The Forsyth County Public Library’s Computer Training Bridge is a free, curriculum based program offered in both English and Spanish focused on promoting digital literacy in our community through volunteerism and agency partnerships. The Training Bridge, which teams up with WinstonNet to serve the public in multiple training locations, covers a wide range of topics from beginner’s computer skills to advanced level classes.

Some of the program’s most popular classes have been designed and dedicated to serve the local workforce and retool those who are currently unemployed. “The great thing about our employment related classes is that they are taught by professionals who use the skills they are teaching within their daily jobs. When you have someone teaching a resume class who has experience as a career counselor, or a web design class taught by a web developer, it just helps the participants get a better, more thorough understanding of the topic,” said Program Coordinator Clay Ragan.

Other useful classes include the newly created “Quick Classes: 30 Minute Tech Tips.” These half hour classes are designed to cover a specific subject in a quick and convenient format. “We have a lot of participants that need help with one specific thing and don’t have a lot of spare time to take a class. That’s why we do the Quick Classes, so that if someone needs help with email attachments or uploading a photo to Facebook they can come in during lunch or right after work and get what they need, fast,” said Ragan.
