Tuesdays at Tanglewood: Who Lives Here? Insects

On Tuesday, August 6, Tanglewood will continue its third annual summer series: Tuesdays at Tanglewood with the program Who Lives Here? Insects!

Learn about the world of insects, their amazing lifecycles, and some of the unique structures they construct. A special emphasis will be placed on the fascinating social orders of bees, wasps, and hornets with tips on how to avoid painful encounters. Participants will have the opportunity to make a paper mache "hornets’ nest" replica that keeps yellow-jackets away. To participate in the Who Lives Here? Insects program, meet at Shelter 2 at 10:00 am.

The Tuesdays at Tanglewood programs are part of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools The Amazing Summer ESCAPE Challenge. Click the link for more information and to register your student today!

The summer programs feature a variety of nature activities and will be free to the public, with the exception of the $2 per vehicle Tanglewood Park entrance fee for all programs at Shelter 2 and Walnut Hall. Registered RV campers and annual pass holders do not pay the entrance fee.

These programs will be take place on most Tuesdays beginning June 18 through August 20 at 10:00 am. All programs last approximately an hour.

Participants should bring their own sunscreen, insect repellent, and water bottle, and wear comfortable hiking clothes and shoes. The programs are designed for all ages, but children ages 16 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
