Digging Up My Roots: What's in the Double Springs A.M.E. Zion Graveyard?

Local historian Fay Shore McCauley will share her memory of attending Double Springs A.M.E. Zion Church in her youth and growing up in Lewisville. She will also speak about the history of the church, established in the late 1880s by former slaves, as well as the history of the cemetery, which was cleaned up in 1998 and remains a landmark today.

"Lewisville Historical Society Presents ..." is a bimonthly program of the Lewisville Historical Society and the Lewisville Branch Library. It is free and open to the public. Participants do not need to be members of the society to attend. The group meets at the Mary Alice Warren Community Center in Lewisville. A short business meeting of the society is held prior to the featured program. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, contact the Lewisville Branch at 336-703-2940 or the Lewisville Historical Society at 336-766-5842.
