Lead Safe Work Practices

Lead Safe Work About three-quarters of houses and apartments built before 1978 contain lead-based paint, which is the leading cause of lead poisoning.

When properly managed and maintained, lead paint poses little risk. Chipping, peeling or cracking lead paint needs immediate attention. If you rent, talk to your landlord about fixing these surfaces.

Removing lead paint improperly can increase the danger to your family. Only a certified lead abatement contractor can remove lead safely.
