The intent of the Child Support Services program is to ensure that both parents are responsible for the financial support of their children to the best of their ability. Child Support Services assists families with locating non-custodial parents, establishing paternity and support obligations, collecting support and enforcing court orders for support payments for children. Medical insurance coverage can be included in the support obligation.
When a non-custodial parent lives outside the state of North Carolina, Child Support staff work in cooperation with other states to establish paternity and support for these families. Child Support services are provided to all Work First Family Assistance recipients and are available to other county residents upon application and payment of a nominal fee.
Anyone with a child support case can obtain information regarding their case using the web or by telephone. eChild Support: The North Carolina eChild Support web site is available for custodial and noncustodial parents to obtain case and payment information online.
Customer Service at 1-800-992-9457: The customer service center assists callers 24 hours a day with an automated voice response system as well as personalized assistance between 7:30 am and 7:30 pm.
