Reference Services

Find the answers you need with the services that best fit your needs.

Call a service desk (336-703-3020) with your questions any time during normal business hours. Monday-Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Questions related to all reference and nonfiction areas, including business, non profits, arts, science, religion, history, grammar, cooking, sports, car repair, health, psychology, literature, travel, law, fiction, biography, foreign language titles, large print books, magazines, newspapers and scholarly journals.
Questions about your library card, renewing books, your account needs; also questions about audiobooks and movies.
Questions related to programs for children, curriculum support materials, children's literature, and computers for children to use.
Questions related to programs for teens (ages 13-18), teen literature and computers for teens to use.
Questions related to Forsyth County or North Carolina history, maps, or genealogy. Also ask your questions about government publications, public documents, and local, state and federal laws.
Computer reservations can be made on computers at Central Library, Malloy/Jordan East Winston Heritage Center and Southside Branch for up to 30 minutes at a time, and up to 2 hours per day at all locations. May reserve up to one day in advance. Call the desired location to find out more or make a reservation.

Visit the Computer Center at the Central Library for more than 10 public workstations, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Two are express computers with 15-minute time limites. All library branches offer a minimum of five computers for public use.
Need help with a tricky problem or concept? Start a live, online chat session with a tutor ready to h elp you find the answer. Available every day between 3 p.m. and midnight, this service can help a student from 4th grade to 12th grade or intro college in a range of subjects including English, Math and Science.
To get the help you need, with questions about database access or computer issues related to suing the library's website, you can do any of the following:
