Tanglewood Disc Golf Rules

All Tanglewood Park Rules and Regulations apply.

Safety Guidelines

  • Clear fairways first: Never throw until you are completely certain the fairway and landing area are clear of other players, walkers, and park visitors.
  • Alert others ("Fore!"): If a throw goes off target or turns toward people, shout "FORE!" immediately and loudly.
  • Stay behind the thrower: Always stand well behind the player whose turn it is to throw. Do not walk ahead on the fairway while others are throwing.
  • Mind roads, trails, and water: Do not throw over roads, active pedestrian paths, or parking areas. Avoid entering water or prohibited areas to retrieve lost discs.
  • Watch blind zones: On blind holes or densely wooded fairways, send a "spotter" ahead to ensure the landing zone is clear before anyone tees off.
  • Out of bounds: Out of bounds lines will be marked during PDGA-sanctioned events.
  • Mandatories: Marked with "Mando" on tee signs. Your disc must be played according to the directional arrow.

Course Courtesy & Etiquette

  • Order of play: On the tee, the player with the lowest score on the previous hole throws first ("has the box"). On the fairway, the player furthest from the basket throws first.
  • Pace of play: Be ready to throw when it is your turn. If your group is playing slowly and holding up faster players behind you, let them play through at a convenient moment.
  • Keep it quiet: Refrain from loud noises, shouting, or sudden movements while another player is preparing to throw or putt.
  • Littering & environment: Carry out everything you bring in. Leave no trash behind, stay on marked paths to prevent erosion, and avoid breaking tree branches or disturbing landscaping.
  • Respect equipment: Do not kick, jump on, or bend baskets, tees, or course signage.

Disc Handling & Retrieval

  • Mark your discs: Write your name and phone number on the underside of your discs so other players can contact you if they find one.
  • Return lost discs: If you find a disc on the course, try to contact the owner or return it to the Tanglewood Park Welcome Center.
